I was fortunate enough to attend a roundtable meeting with Greg Barker of DECC yesterday morning organised by Zoe Osmond of Brighton University. It was a positive meeting focussed on the Green Deal and there should be some interesting announcements in Parliament today on the detail of how this initiative to make the UK’s 26M homes more energy efficient will work.

A useful spin-off from the roundtable meeting was the forming of a working party consisting of BEC, 10:10 B&H, EPUK, Brighton Uni, installers such as South Downs Solar & consultants such as CityZen & Low Carbon Era. Our aim is to co-ordinate our efforts across the 3 energy themes of energy efficiency, microgeneration and community energy and specifically look at how we can work with the Council to implement the recommendations of the Scrutiny Panel report on renewable energy here http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/downloads/bhcc/democracy/renewable_energy_Vol1.pdf.

If other organisations are interested in contributing to the working party drop me a mail on damian@brightonenergy.org.uk.
