Hi there,

Well, it’s been an interesting couple of weeks.

First: our community has now pledged an incredible £155,000 to the Brighton Energy Coop project – a fantastic achievement. Pledges range from £400 pounds to £20,000 and have come from sixteen years olds to retirees – all over the Brighton and Hove area.

Second, this morning the government announced the details of its review of Feed in Tariffs. Although this has destablised many solar schemes I’m pleased to say that here at BEC we have organised measures that mean we are still on track. We’ve raised bridging finance to enable us to start installation next week – at the same time as we will be raising the money. A simple solution to a problem that could have been fatal!

Do come along to our launch meeting on 2 November at the Friend’s Meeting House to find out more, and don’t forget we’re running a month’s worth of events on the energy theme to commemorate our share launch period, see here or below for details.

Finally, we are due to receive planning on a couple of our sites next week (before we install), and it’d be a great help if you could support our planning applications:-
