It’s been an exciting week. Since we announced our share launch last week, £65,000 has been pledged for community-owned renewable energy in Brighton and Hove.

Many thanks to all of you who have pledged your interest – it’s fantastic to have so much support out there. If you haven’t pledged yet, click here to sign up.

Meanwhile, we’re very pleased to have St George’s Church in Kemptown as one of the places we’ll be putting our solar panels. Click here to see a video of Father Andrew, the Dean of Brighton, talking about why he is involved with BEC. Look out for more of our videos here.

If you choose to join the co-op you’ll receive a return on your investment, as well as the chance to co-own significant solar installations. BEC is a democratically owned, local organisation that helps increase local involvement in energy issues. And by generating our own electricity we also aim to increase energy self-sufficiency & security.

Don’t forget that we’re also running a series of events around the energy theme throughout our share launch period. Highlights include evenings with Jeremy Leggett and Caroline Lucas plus a screening of the film ‘Gasland’. You can see the details below.
