For Immediate Release
Brighton Energy Coop 2 launch event, 25th October, Brighthelm Centre, Brighton, 7.30pm
After raising £240,000 last year, local Brighton organisation Brighton Energy Coop (BEC) is set to launch it’s second solar project on the 25th October.
After using last year’s cash to install solar PV around the Brighton area, this year BEC is looking to raise up to £500,000 (1) to install more new solar in the area, and will become the largest solar project in Sussex.
The new project installs will see BEC’s solar capacity triple in size.
New sites include two of the largest buildings at Shoreham Port, to add to existing systems there. Other existing sites include City Coast Church in Portslade and St George’s Church in Kemptown (2).
BEC offers local people the chance to get involved with owning renewable energy. The Coop offers members a 5% return on investment, as well as a 30% tax break on amounts invested.
At the meeting on the 25th we’ll be outlining details of our new sites at Shoreham Port, around the city and further afield, as well as how to get involved.

(1) To raise the cash required to install solar panels in our area we will again be carrying out a community share issue for those interested in joining the coop or adding to their existing shareholdings.
