BMS Cars Limited is a repair garage with a used car sales and MOT area in Sidlesham near Chichester.
They received a £23,500 grant from the Community Solar Accelerator scheme to implement their 67.5kW Solar PV project. Their south-facing sloping roof is ideal for the installation, and it is expected that the solar array will generate at least 66,000kWh of electricity annually.
This will provide a significant estimated cost saving of around £25,000 in the first year, potentially more if the unit rate of electricity keeps rising in coming months. With this forecast, the payback of the solar array is estimated to be only between 1-2 years.
“Hopefully by installing the array we will generate enough power to not be reliant upon our energy supplier who are increasing the costs every time we get a new contract. It will also generate environmental improvements as we will not be using mains electricity.” Emma Prince, Financial Controller
