BEC’s Bond kicks off community solar at Newhaven
All 570 panels of our latest Newhaven Port 300kW system are go! The Witness Test was officially signed off on Monday (6th Feb). The port is our second major infrastructure partner in Sussex.
BEC Co-founder, Will Cottrell, said “Many thanks to Newhaven Port for the intricate discussions and attention to detail this scale of solar project requires.”
Brighton Energy Co-op’s community energy solar PV is finally playing a part in the port’s energy mix after months of negotiations and hard work by the whole BEC team. Something to celebrate in the office!
Genfit wiring Brighton Energy inverters at Newhaven Port
Our long-time installers Genfit wired up the inverters last week. Inverters are usually the last bit of kit to be installed – usually by the most qualified staff. We’re very grateful to all the Genfit team for making such speedy progress.
We hope this is the first of many Brighton Energy Co-op solar systems at Newhaven. Reducing the port’s carbon footprint and helping them deal with the energy price hike will aid the long-term sustainability of this essential industrial area.
There are currently 8 BEC solar projects at Shoreham Port. So as our relationship with Newhaven Port grows we hope renewable energy production will too. See our latest Shoreham Port community-owned solar projects here.
