That’s 8 Community Energy Systems!
Oct 2023 saw BEC install a further 120kW of community owned #solar on four buildings at our long time partners Shoreham Port. Shiny new solar panels can now be seen on their HQ Nautilus House, Maritime House Warehouse, Maritime House Extension plus the ever popular Port Kitchen. 70% of the cafe’s electric now comes from our community-owned solar. The cafe already had a great sustainability stance, but that’s been topped off with a massive cut in their carbon footprint thanks to our members. We love our job! Huge thanks must go to Genfit our installers for a super speedy install.

Sea Views From Shoreham Port’s Maritime House
No only does community energy now power Shoreham Port’s HQ, but there are plans afoot for further “greening” of the port’s dock side loading systems. You can read more about Shoreham Port’s sustainability credentials here.
As well as hosting 8 of BEC’s community-owned solar projects the port also played a part in our Power to Change funded research project. To carry out the research BEC created an innovative (in the South East anyway!) solar-connected electric vehicle charger network at a number of our partner solar sites.
