The company successfully applied for a £16,000 grant from our Community Solar Accelerator scheme to help install a 37kW solar array at their premises.
The panels were installed on both the West and East elevations to provide a more constant output. The system is estimated to provide 32,000 kWh per annum. Based on current consumption and unit rate of electricity, the expected financial savings are around £5,000 per year.
Sussex Refrigeration Wholesale Ltd strategically installed a slightly larger solar array as they are anticipating the replacement of their company van with either an EV or hybrid model. It was calculated that an electric company van will use an additional 5000 kWh annually which will largely be covered by the electricity generated by the solar panels which helps with future proofing against raising energy prices.
