Wow – it’s been an amazing few days. I’m very pleased to say that over the weekend we’ve had the fantastic amount of just over £135,000 pledged to our forthcoming solar scheme.
While we’re currently finalising the details of this scheme, we expect it to double our current size and install up to 1MWp of new solar in the Brighton area over the next six months. If you’re interested in becoming a member you can pledge your interest here.
This amazing achievement is testament to the support Brighton Energy Coop has within our community and beyond – many thanks to all of you who have pledged.
What’s really heartening is how many of the new pledges have come from our existing members – proof that they’re happy with our work to date.
And it’s also supremely encouraging how many new people have expressed an interest in joining – roughly half of the 60 of you who have expressed your interest.
As well as bucket loads of clean, green energy, the great news is that from August we plan to pay a 5% dividend to all our current members (subject to our accounts being completed and approved at our AGM) on time and as promised in our previous share offers. This is in addition to the 30% EIS tax break that members have already qualified for.
