Last week Brighton Energy Coop hit a major target – we’ve raised just over £400,000 for our new solar builds. A big welcome to all our new members – nearly 100 people – and also thanks to those members who have increased your existing investments. We couldn’t do this without you.
Our next target is the big half-million – please help us get there if you can. BEC membership starts at £300, and all our members get a 5% return on investment. We have a lot of new solar projects to build over the next twelve months – and your involvement really makes a big difference.
With the support of our new members, we’ve just completed our biggest solar installation – 250kWp at Ore Valley College, which we built in partnership with Hastings organisation Energise Sussex Coast. Finished three weeks ago, this system is composed of eight SolarEdge 25kW inverters, and nearly 1000 panels.

It’s great to be working with the College and ESC – more major partnerships for our organisation, alongside the likes of Brighton and Hove City Council, the University of Brighton, Shoreham Port, and many others. See new video of Ore Valley Solar here
Looking forward, our next builds are with Brighton and Hove City Council – the first of our new schools programme. Later this week we start work on a 60kWp system at Coldean Primary School, followed by 60kWp at Woodingdean Primary, and then a large system of 180kWp at Carden Primary School, all in Brighton.
We can only keep going with your help – have a look at our share invitation to see what it means to join BEC and help us continue building new solar in our area.
