The Gurjar Hindu Union (GHU) is a 55 year old well established minority ethnic led charitable organisation serving Crawley, a town based in the South East of England, near Gatwick Airport.
The organisation focuses on the Indian community in serving their needs and helping to integrate them into mainstream society. GHU also looks to share the rich cultural and spiritual history of India more widely through common inter-community experiences.
GHU is a charity and a company limited by guarantee. We represent 5000 members or 1200 families from Hindu/Indian background. We have a lovely Sanatan Mandir and Community Centre, known as Apple Tree Centre that we built 11 years ago on a 2.9 acres of green field site from where we provide all the important support and service for the community. The centre consists of an ornate Temple, large community Centre and has 250 car park spaces.
We are a volunteer led organisation which has established itself as a well-run and sustainable organisation. Through prudent financial management and funds raised from the community it serves, GHU manages and runs this large most beautiful and prestigious Centre in the UK very successfully.
