Grand Parade Solar – new community energy at the University of Brighton
This November Brighton Energy Coop is again teaming up with a major Brighton institution to deliver clean energy to the heart of the city – this time installing solar power at the University of Brighton’s Grand Parade building.The Grand Parade solar system will be a glorious addition to this classic structure, and provide the University of Brighton with clean solar energy for years to come.
The Grand Parade Solar System
Owned by Brighton Energy Coop, the Grand Parade solar PV installation will be a 60kWp system, combining roughly 200 BYD 270W solar panels and 2 SolarEdge 25kW inverters. The panels are mounted on a bespoke framing system at an angle of ten degrees, aligning with the roof edges to create a south-south west orientation. Grand Parade’s solar crown will provide the university with cheap solar electricity, saving tens of thousands of pounds on their electricity bills.
University of Brighton Solar boost local community energy
Our new University of Brighton solar system adds to three other community energy PV systems hosted at the University. All have been community-funded, and the University’s commitment to this model adds growing momentum to Brighton’s community energy movement.
